This policy applies both to A. K. Caggiano’s website (you’re there now!), her online shop https://akcaggiano.bigcartel.com, and her mailing list.
Hello, Dear Reader! Writing might be my job, but there isn’t much fantastical or romantic about legal stuff, so I’m just going to jot down, to the best of my ability, how your data gets used here.
First, my website is hosted by WordPress, my shop is hosted by Big Cartel, and my mailing list is hosted by MailChimp. I don’t retain any of your data anywhere outside of those three platforms except for any payments you may make which would be stored by whatever platform you chose to checkout (for example, Stripe or Paypal). But to be clear–that data is stored by those websites, not me personally. I didn’t ask for it, it’s just happening by way of all of us being on the internet.
You data is only stored for as long as it is needed to process information, and then it is removed in conjunction with the privacy policies of those websites. I only retain your email for as long as you want me to have it so you can keep getting my letters and/or ARCs. When you unsubscribe from my mailing list using the official channel via an email or Mailchimp’s website, your data is only stored (but not used) in compliance with US law. Mailchimp hangs onto emails in an “Unsubscribed” list to make sure you don’t get accidentally resubscribed right away. I have to manually purge this list, but since I send so few emails, I don’t do this often.
With what little info I have on you, I intend to do the following: nothing. You should only receive the emails you’ve requested from me or the receipts you’ve requested from my store/the payment processor. I’m too lost in my own daydreams to even keep track of who’s on what list of mine let alone to do some kind of data analysis. I’m just glad you’re here, whoever you are!
