The day has finally come, and Vacancy Book One: The Weary Traveler is ready for consumption at the low, low price of absolutely nothing! February 24th through 25th the book will be free, so please go pick it up during that period. It’s only two days this time instead of the normal five, but that’s because I have some plans for those other free days and the sequel *rubs hands together maniacally* which has the very real possibility of being here in, I think…May? Holy cheeseballs.
This is my fourth book release, so I’m sort of used to all of this by now, but it’s still vomit-inducing. I just finished spamming the free-ness of the book on my social media and on Reddit, but the fear no one will get it or read it or like it is still crawling under my skin and making me want to tear it all off and lay in a bath of acid.
I’m buoyed, however, from the lovely ARC readers over at Booksprout and the 5 star review The Weary Traveler has already received over on Goodreads! I don’t really like to talk about reviews much because it feels braggy, and reviews are really for other readers anyway, not for authors (not that there’s nothing to be learned from a good, critical review because there definitely is), but because I am fairly certain this book will bring me my first one star at some point with its hopefully wider reader base, it was very nice to see it start out so strong. (I also got a two star rating (no review) on Goodreads by a non-ARC “reader” within a couple hours of the book actually being available so not enough time for the bot, I mean poster, to have actually read it, but that’s worthy of a whole other post and not meant to taint today.)
So, here we are. The culmination of at least six years of trying to tell this story, and the true step toward the finish line is here. It’s funny working so hard just to be done with something, but when so many stories are rattling around inside your head it certainly feels good to knock one out.
jk but also plz do read it if you have time and it’s to your taste ok bye
