I’m pretty proud of this book. It’s my longest first-in-series, so I don’t know if I’m getting wordier and that’s a bad thing, or I’m just telling more immersive stories with a bigger world (yeah, it’s gotta be the latter), but I’m pumped to finally be sharing this work and getting close to the entire story being complete.
Books two and three are in the middle-to-last editing stages, so while Eclipse of the Crown (book three) won’t be out until 2023 (February 1st, I think), I’ll be “done” with the series prior to that. There are a lot of reasons to delay the releases in the way I’m planning, and there are plenty to push the books out faster too, but I’m giving myself extra runway just in case I get hung up on something. I want to deliver the best product I possibly can, and I know perfection is impossible, but this is about wanting to be sure I did right by the story and by me.
There are already reviews from advanced readers up on Amazon and Goodreads, and I just want to point out the Goodreads reviewer who edited her review–it used to be four stars, but she came back a week later and “added another star because a week and half later I am still daydreaming about Amma and Damien’s story.” Are you kidding me??? What a compliment! When I tell you, Dear Reader, that that made me squeal like I’d been handed a whole basket full of kittens, I am not exaggerating at all.
